Booker T. Washington High Summer Baseball Program:
We will have summer baseball tryouts for incoming 9th graders, returning players, and transferring students on Tuesday, May 31, @ 5:30 pm (BTWHS Baseball Facility), with a meet and greet with uniform distribution scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, @ 5:30 pm (BTWHS Baseball Facility). Summer training will start the following day (Thur, 6/2) and end on Wednesday, 6/22. Training will take place 3-4 days a week; please refer to the summer schedule provided. Optional weight room times will be 7-8 am Tuesdays-Thursdays. The schedule will be provided at the meet and greet and posted on btwbaseball.com (it's located at the top of this page). Summer ball participants will need to complete all necessary eligibility paperwork online through the Home Campus App.
1. Students wishing to tryout and participate for baseball this summer (2022) will utilize https://athleticclearance.fhsaahome.org/ to create a player profile and complete the EL2, EL3, Code of Conduct, ECSD Drug Consent Form, and upload the NFHS video certificates.
2. Students will also need to get a physical using the approved EL2 Form (click on EL2 Form to access the form) and upload the form to their athletic clearance profile.
3. NFHS certifications (videos) need to be completed prior to summer tryouts. Start them by using the link (https://www.nfhslearn.com/courses). The following courses are free and need to be completed prior to summer ball: Heat-related illness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Concussion in Sports. All 3 NFHS certificates will also be uploaded TO THE ATHLETIC CLEARANCE APP (the link is listed above).
Each student athlete will create a profile within the website and complete the required documentation with a parent/guardian. Once they've created a profile on the website and they've selected baseball, their name will be added to a "roster" for baseball within the website. From there, I'll be able to view every student athlete who clicked baseball and their name will appear red or green. Red = Ineligible, Green = Eligible.
The eligibility link is also on the BTWHS Athletic page. Student-athletes and parents must understand, this will be the only version of athletic documentation that will be accepted. Parents and athletes will have the ability to upload a completed EL2 into the website, for viewing and confirmation. Our AD will be the only person with the ability to approve and grant clearance for any student athletes.
Review of important items -
1. Prospective baseball athletes and parents need to complete the eligibility documentation using the website listed above (prior to summer tryouts).
2. (AS STATED ABOVE, THESE CERTIFICATES CAN BE UPLOADED INTO THE ELIGIBILITY WEBSITE/APP LISTED ABOVE).
Please keep in mind that summer baseball and regular season baseball do not go hand in hand. All players (even returning players) will have an opportunity to make our high school team in January 2023 during our regular season tryout. However, our summer baseball training program does afford all incoming players an opportunity to impress our BTWHS baseball coaching staff. I look forward to meeting the newest additions to the Wildcat family this summer, and I hope that you are excited about BTWHS Baseball.
